how Our Program Works
School House Canada has developed a unique objective-based program that allows students to progress rapidly while ensuring that they are exposed to all the content required in the program of studies. Upon registration, students and parents are presented with a learning continuum so that they are aware of all the content prescribed in the curriculum. As students work through the curriculum, they are supported by hundreds of instructional videos and the advanced Walk Me Through method
The Walk Me Through is modeled after the real one-on-one interaction between a student and teacher. Students are coached through instructional videos and step-by-step guidance in which they must actively demonstrate concept knowledge rather than passively read hints. Walk Me Through engages students when they need it the most with prompts and questions, which help them begin to comprehend and apply the learning objectives. This drill-down approach ensures students understand underlying concepts and have the confidence to learn independently.

Our PROPRIETARY 5 Step Program
Our program follows a 5 step pattern for each objective
Step #1- The Pretest
Once an objective is introduced, the student will be assigned a series of questions.to determine understanding and competency. If the student scores a mark of 80% or higher, he or she may proceed to the next objective without doing steps 2 to 5. If the student scores less than 80%, he or she must complete those steps before moving on to the next objective.
Step #2 - Independent Learning Opportunity
The School House Canada program is based on both on-line instruction and direct teaching. When a lesson is introduced, the student receives a variety of learning strategies supported by numerous videos, audios, activities and worksheets. The subject material is presented in a logical, step-by-step manner and the student works systematically through the numerous examples ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the objective. If a student encounters problems with a difficult concept, the child's teacher specialist will intervene to ensure that the student has fully grasped the required skill or concept.
Step #3 - Guided Practice
Once the student has completed modelling the many examples presented in step #2, the student then moves on to completing a variety of practice questions and activities. These activities are reviewed by the School House Canada teacher for grading and feedback
Step #4 - Post-test
At School House Canada we celebrate success and promote confidence. Our teachers will only administer a summative test when they are sure that the student has demonstrated that he or she fully understood the objectives. With successful testing results, the student is confident, motivated, and ready to move forward to the next objective on the the learning continuum.
Step #5 Application Using Bloom's Taxonomy
Whenever appropriate, the student will apply what he or she has learned to the real world. The student and the teacher will collaborate on creating an assignment based on Bloom's taxonomy to demonstrate the student's newfound skill or knowledge. This assignment will be handed in to the teacher, graded and kept in the student's learning portfolio..
